Saruni Samburu is the only lodge in the Kalama Conservancy, which borders Samburu National Reserve. Its position on a huge volcanic rock face allows far-reaching views over the plains of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District and Mount Kenya. The six open-fronted villas and two infinity pools all make the most of these sweeping vistas. In the evenings, guests can gather by a bonfire or in the lounge and enjoy Italian-inspired cuisine in the dining area. The service is warm and informal; waiters and guides in traditional dress are local Samburu warriors who are passionate about their land and culture. The lodge has a laid-back atmosphere and eco-chic design features. Rainwater is collected and recycled and heated using solar panels.
