Hogmead is located in the upmarket Karen area of Nairobi on a peaceful tree lined street, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The property was previously a colonial house but has been converted into a very comfortable and welcoming boutique hotel. Here you find yourself on land which used to be owned by Karen Blixen and not far from the the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Langata Giraffe Sanctuary, Karen Blixen Museum and Nairobi National Park. The 6 individually decorated rooms in the main house are spread over two floors. There are a further 7 simple dayrooms in a converted stable block in the grounds which are booked for day use only, most often for clients waiting for a late international flight. On the ground floor of the house there is also a dining room, comfy lounge and veranda with great views into the the large garden where often warthogs can be seen wandering.
