Bale Mountain Lodge
Bale Mountain Lodge is a 15-bedroom eco-safari lodge located inside the Bale Mountain National Park. Four rooms are luxury tree houses and the remaining rooms are stone and wooden construction. The lodge is 100% eco friendly with power generated from its own micro-hydro power plant. The living and dining room is open plan with a thatched roof, lined with bamboo. It has a large fireplace and comfortable sofas and armchairs to relax in. Outside, there is a wide wood deck for outside dining, including afternoon tea.
There are numerous activities on offer including safari drives and walks arranged by the lodge. Birdwatching is excellent and the area is one of the top five birdwatching sites in Africa. The lodge is also located in a good game viewing area where it is possible to see giant forest hogs, leopards, black maned lions, Bale and vervet monkeys, olive baboons and Menelik’s bushbucks. Ethiopian wolves can be seen on the plateau, about 30 minutes’ drive from the lodge. Some of the best trout fishing in east Africa can be enjoyed in the nearby rivers.
