Taj Mahal Palace... the documentary

| August 27, 2014

The world-famous Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai was like a second home to Peter Kerkar, CEO of Cox & Kings. Currently it employs over 1,500 staff, many of whom are interesting characters – and BBC2 have produced a documentary to show behind the scenes of this grand hotel.

For Cox & Kings’ CEO, Peter Kerkar, The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, was like a second home during his childhood. His father was head of the Taj Group of hotels and his mother had designed many of the building’s lavish interiors. Young Peter could be found all over the hotel, but he would spend particularly happy days hanging around the kitchen, learning how to cook from some of India’s top chefs and generally developing a life-long love of cooking and food – he even got locked in the hotels’ vast fridge on one occasion.

This opulent hotel is now the focus of a weekly documentary by BBC2. Starting from 27 August 2014, a new episode will be shown each week for four weeks, starting at 8pm.
