We have just returned from a wonderful safari in Botswana. We visited three lodges in three different locations each very charming and in beautiful surroundings. This was our third safari in Africa and absolutely the best.

We were lucky enough to see wild animals so close we could almost touch them. The animals were never crowded however and felt comfortable with our presence and at no time did they seem disturbed by the vehicles due to the care and consideration of our guides and trackers. Some animals were curious enough to approach us hence the close proximity. Rangers and trackers made both our safety and that of the animals a priority and their knowledge about everything was awesome. Lions having a fight and leopards playing and being mischievous, Elephants coming to say hello at meal times and posing for photos and monkeys scrounging when they got a chance made it an experience of a life time. Giraffes, hyenas, impala, kudu, hippos and crocodiles as well as tiny frogs sounding like tubular bells under the stars were something we shall never forget. Exotic birds land and water were pointed out to us and we were given their names and habitat peculiarities and of course the bush was fascinating in itself. African sunsets are unique and watching the sun go down with a gin and tonic in hand standing in the middle of the jungle was a treat.

However more than anything else and what made our holiday so unique was the people…Every single person and in every lodge we visited could not do enough for us. Their smiles and their attentive caring nature which was sincere and from the heart absolutely captivated us. The service was impeccable, unobtrusive and seamless. In addition the quality of food and wine were of a very high standard. We were always greeted with a song by the staff upon arrival from each and every drive and when we left the farewell songs were quite moving and emotional. From the gardeners to the housekeepers the cooks the waiters and the managers they would sing their heart out and even though we could not understand what they were saying it was very evident what they were trying to express. Therefore it was the singers (the people) and not just the song (nature) that made our holiday an unforgettable experience and the people of Botswana are very fine singers indeed…
