We didn’t know what to expect on our trip to Kwandwe Game Reserve in South Africa, but we hoped to see one or two animals. Nothing could be more wonderful than the experience we had.

We went for four nights, going out into the bush twice a day at dawn and dusk in our open-topped safari truck. Our ranger Wesley, and our tracker Vusi were wonderful, informative, and enthusiastic.

We saw a pride of lions on our first evening and, as we stopped in a bush clearing for champagne, there was an air of amazement.

From then on it just kept on getting more amazing, from the herds of elephant to the rhinos, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, elans, kudus, hartebeests and even the lioness with her cub looking over a cliff at a leopard. Watching cheetahs at such close range was utterly stunning.

The lodge we stayed in was luxurious, set in the middle of the bush in a beautiful location above the Great Fish River, and the food was incredible.

From our lodge we could watch warthogs, baboons and kudus across the river. We aimed to see the Big Five and we saw them all and a whole lot more. We would love to go again. Thank you Cox & Kings for organising such a truly memorable experience, we would recommend it to anyone.
