Superb planning with an eye for detail

All our group tours are designed by destination experts, who can draw on their own extensive knowledge, as well as the many years of our company’s accumulated experience, to create itineraries that are well paced and chock-full of interest. Our itineraries typically combine iconic sights with lesser-known gems, as well as opportunities to meet the locals and enjoy authentic tastes of local culture. Getting the balance right between including plenty of organised sightseeing, while allowing enough free time to either relax or explore under your own steam, is an art that we are continually striving to perfect.

We also offer the flexibility to extend your tours. An expert tour consultant will handle your booking from beginning to end and can discuss the options with you, so you can either choose one of our suggested pre- or post-tour extensions, or have one entirely tailor-made for you.

Typically our tours include high quality hotels. For us, the location is as important as the linen and plunge pools, so in towns and cities we generally choose properties in interesting areas for exploring and with good dining options outside the hotel.

Peace of mind

Even with the best planning, because our holidays are adventures, unexpected mishaps can happen. Most of our holidays visit countries with less developed infrastructure than we are used to at home; strange cuisines that can take some adapting to; and languages that we cannot begin to understand. Such worries are easily dealt with on a Cox & Kings tour. From arrival in the destination to your return flight home, an experienced tour manager is there to greet the group, ensure that everything runs smoothly and to iron out any wrinkles that may crop up along the way. They can advise you on where and what to eat, what to wear and how to avoid the dreaded social faux pas!

Holidays booked with Cox & Kings are both ABTA and ATOL protected so you can rest assured that you are fully protected.

Excellent value for money

No other company offers such consistently high quality tours to so many destinations. As a result, many people expect Cox & Kings holidays to be very expensive. However, while high quality travel is certainly not cheap, our tours actually offer remarkably good value for money, comparing like with like, when you take into account the quality of accommodation, the size of the groups and all the inclusions in the itineraries. Group travel is also typically 15 – 20% cheaper than equivalent private itineraries.

As the African proverb goes: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

People who join Cox & Kings’ small-group tours generally share many common interests. If you are the kind of person who wants to discover a destination in depth and come away with a real understanding of its past and present and, maybe, a glimpse at its future, you will find yourself joined by a group of kindred spirits… people who enjoy the adventure of experiencing new cultures and landscapes, without compromising on comfort.

Our range of Solo Travellers tours is especially good for those that want to see the world, but may not have a companion or partner with similar interests. We try to keep our groups to a size that means they are small enough to get to know everyone and to move about efficiently, but large enough so that there is a variety of fellow travellers to get to know. On average, our group sizes are 14, with a maximum of 26. While for Solo Travellers groups, the maximum is 18.

Sharing extraordinary experiences creates an immediate and often lasting bond, whether it is trying peculiar local delicacies, seeking out unusual wildlife in perfect silence, or watching the sun dip below the horizon in an exquisitely beautiful setting. Many of our clients organise reunions when they get back, or arrange to meet again on another Cox & Kings tour.

Learning from your guide

Knowledgeable and engaging local guides make all the difference when it comes to learning about the culture, traditions and history. Our long experience has enabled us to identify the best, allowing you to get the most out of your visit. Meandering around an exotic market is always fun, but so much more so when accompanied by someone who can explain what everything is, can communicate with the locals for you and also help you to haggle for a special memento. Due to our small group sizes, you will be able to hear the guide and have a chance to ask questions along the way.

Authentic experiences

With years of travel expertise, local recommendations and personal exploration in the countries we’ve travelled to, we have hand-picked and crafted experiences to make each holiday truly memorable. Whether it’s learning to make noodles in Asia, trying your hand at textile weaving in Peru or exclusive group dinners in surreal locations, such as on the rooftop of Haveli Dharampura in New Delhi, India; these experiences are included to help you get a real feel for the country.

Many of our group tours also include priority entrance to events, exhibitions and museums to avoid the queues, as well as exclusive access to some private collections, offering behind the scenes experiences.
