Things to do in Croatia

The things to do in Croatia are numerous. The country boasts an abundant cultural history that can still be seen today, beautiful islands and coastline, and fascinating cities.

Zagreb

The national capital, Zagreb, is located on the southern slopes of Mount Medvednica, overlooking the Sava river to the north. A thriving city with an impressive collection of museums and galleries, Zagreb’s history stretches back to the 11th century when it began to develop from the twin villages of Kaptol and Gradec.

Dubrovnik

Described by Romantic poet Byron as the ‘pearl of the Adriatic’, the Unesco listed city of Dubrovnik remains as enchanting today as it has been for centuries.

The city’s stone walls feature striking 14th-century ramparts and towers enclosing marble-paved squares and steep cobbled streets, historic churches and monasteries, gardens and modern galleries.

Split

Renowned for its warm climate, the town of Split is centred on the vast 4th-century Palace of Diocletian, which is still occupied today with houses, shops and restaurants hidden within its walls. The second largest city in Croatia, Split acts as the gateway to the countless islands that are dotted along the country’s coastline.
