Day 2: LausanneHead to Montreux pier and board the paddle steamer across Lake Geneva to Lausanne, a historic lakeside town and home to the International Olympic Committee as well as a host of sporting associations. On arrival in Lausanne, visit the Olympic Museum to find out about the history of the Olympic Games. Afternoon at leisure to explore Lausanne before taking the 20-minute train journey back to Montreux. (B)
Day 3: GruyèresAfter breakfast, take the Chocolate Train to the picturesque villages of Gruyères and Broc, where the renowned Gruyère cheese is produced. Travel in a vintage 1959 Belle Époque carriage with coffee and croissants served as you enjoy the passing scenery. In Gruyères, join a tour of the picturesque dairy where the renowned cheese is produced before heading to the Cailler chocolate factory. Enjoy a short tour and video demonstration about the chocolate manufacturing process before sampling this celebrated Swiss product. Return by rail to Montreux in the evening (2 hours). (B)
Day 4: WengenAfter breakfast, board the GoldenPass train for a scenic rail journey to Wengen, passing vineyards and country estates (2 hours 20 minutes). To enhance your experience, upgrade to front-view panoramic seats. Change trains at Interlaken Ost for your onward journey to Wengen (20 minutes). Stay at the Sunstar Alpine Hotel (Wengen) (double rooms) for 3 nights. (B)
Day 5: Jungfrau regionThis morning, take the 35-minute cable car ride to the top of Männlichen mountain. From here, enjoy an easy high Alpine walk with stunning views all the way down to the mountain pass of Kleine Scheidegg, followed by a 30-minute train ride down to the typical alpine village of Grindelwald. For an adrenalin rush, travel by gondola up to First cable car station then take an exhilarating zip line ride on the First Flyer and a scooter ride on Trottibikes back down to Grindelwald. Overnight in Wengen. (B)
Day 6: SchilthornHalf-day excursion by cogwheel railway and cable car to the summit of the Schilthorn, affording arguably the best view of the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The round-trip from Wengen takes in the idyllic resort of Mürren, passing stunning Alpine scenery and waterfalls. The excursion can easily be combined with a visit to Trümmelbachfalls, a series of thundering underground glacier waterfalls (entrance fee payable locally). (B)
Day 7: Fly to LondonMorning at leisure. Take advantage of your Bernese Oberland Pass to explore the surrounding area. Board the train to Geneva (3 hours 15 minutes) for your return flight back to London. (B)
