The first camp that Robin Pope built is located within the South Luangwa Valley National Park, in a secluded area under a grove of shady mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa river. The large custom-made tents each have an attached open air bathroom with a flush toilet and shower as well as a private veranda. The thatched dining room and bar stand on a wide bend of the river; meals are of a very high standard and are served overlooking this wonderful view. With three distinct habitats, the river, the adjoining lagoons and the plains, there is a wide diversity of game. Amongst the species, waterbuck, zebra, warthog and greater kudu are often seen. Nkwali Camp is built on Robin Pope Safari's private land on the banks of the Luangwa River, overlooking the National Park. This is superb game country with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grass plains. A small camp of thatched chalets with en-suite facilities, there is also a wonderful bar, built around an enormous ebony tree, and a dining room overlooking a lagoon where many of the resident animals drink during the day. Unusually in this area, the camp also has a small swimming pool.
