Hyena Pan is a tranquil solar powered tented camp in the Khwai private reserve. The concession borders the Moremi National Park and the Khwai River to the south and Chobe National Park to the east. This wild vast area of more than 200,000 hectares is now protected through photographic safaris in partnership with local families since hunting was banned in Botswana in 2013. The camp is positioned 12km's north of the Khwai river, within Cathedral Mopane forest overlooking a natural pan. The pan is a hive of activity year round and provides a steady water source for the area's abundant wildlife including hippo, elephant, lion, wild dog, leopard and buffalo including an exceptional array of birds. Relax in one of the two lounges or next to the small rim-flow swimming pool and watch the wildlife pass by. Activities include drives within the concession or in the Moremi National Park along the Khwai River, night drives and game walks (these must be booked in advance). The tented suites are comfortably furnished with twin beds, en-suite showers and an international charging station within each tent for cameras and batteries. There is no phone signal and no Wi-Fi facilities. Children are welcome although those under 12 will share with an adult or older sibling.
