Gora-Kansuiro Ryokan is located in the heart of the beautiful landscape of Hakone in the area of the volcanically active Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, only a three-minute walk from Gora railway station. Built in 1914 as a private country house with a 3-hectare Kaseien garden, the house was closed during the second world war and reopened as a hotel in 1949. It became famous years later when the Showa Emperor and Empress stayed there. Accommodation is in 14 Japanese-style rooms, located either in the main building and annex, or in Japanese-style Hanare villas. Meals are served in the room Kaiseki style, and guests have use of the natural hot spring Onsen baths, with both indoor and outdoor baths separated for males and females.
