The Escudo Jaguar Centro Ecoturístico is a very simple ecolodge located on the banks of the Usumacinta river in Frontera Corozal. Set in a jungle location with howler monkeys often running through the treetops, the lodge is operated by the local Maya community. Rooms are located in rustic thatched roofed constructions connected by paths to the main building and offer clean but basic accommodation with private bathrooms. Staff speak very limited English and service may be slow and erratic. The restaurant closes at 8pm and the small swimming pool may not always be operational. Features: 32 rooms, simple restaurant, small swimming pool, Wi-Fi (charges apply). Room amenities: Ceiling fan, warm water.
