A delightful homestay, the Devpur Darbargadh is the private residence of the Thakores (village chieftain) of Devpur and dates back to the turn of the 20th century. Built using local sandstone in classical Kutch style with porticos, courtyards and stucco pavilions, Devpur Darbargadh was converted into a homestay in 2009 and houses a local school within its complex. Each of the four rooms is individually decorated and simply furnished with en-suite facilities. One room is air conditioned and the others are cooled by ceiling fans only. Food is served in the dining room in the main building and is usually simple yet delicious Gujarati home-cooked food. Devpur Darbargadh does not serve alcoholic beverages. This homestay must be regarded simple and basic.
Devpur is about an hour from Bhuj and is conveniently located to visit some of the artisan villages that have remained unchanged for centuries. As many of the tribal villages are dotted around the region, visits to some of them might take a journey of about 90 minutes. Equally some of the villages are in close proximity to the Devpur Darbargadh.
