Fly to Turin or Milan, pick up your hire car and drive to the historic Hotel Castello di Santa Vittoria (or similar) in the Alba area of Piedmont. Stay for 6 nights. Dinner at the hotel. (D)
Day 2: Neieve • Grinzane CavourDrive to the pretty hilltop town of Neive and explore on foot. Continue to Grinzane Cavour and visit the castle and winery in the dungeon. Visit an artisanal farm and sample some traditional torrone (nougat). A chocolate tasting is also included. (B)
Day 3: Alba • La MorraGuided tour of Alba, a Roman town famous for its truffles, pastries and wine. After some time at leisure, continue to La Morra for a short walk and enjoy panoramic views over the Langa of Barolo. Take a guided excursion along a popular wine route, with tastings en route. (B)
Day 4: TurinDay at leisure to explore Turin at your own pace. Optional 6-hour guided tour available. Be sure to visit the Mole Antonelliana, a major museum and landmark offering superb views of the city and the Alps beyond. (B)
Day 5: Venaria RealeMorning guided tour of the Unesco-listed Palace of Venaria, a complex of monumental buildings making up one of the largest palaces in the world. It houses baroque artworks and fine landscaped gardens. Return to Alba for an afternoon of wine and chocolate tasting near the hotel. (B)
Day 6: Asti • MombaldoneOptional morning tour of Asti, famous for its medieval architecture including the octagonal Tower de Regibus and the 13th-century cathedral. Spend the afternoon in the tiny walled village of Mombaldone, with lunch in a traditional restaurant and a short guided tour. Farewell dinner at the hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 7: Turin or Milan • Fly homeDrive to Turin or Milan airport and drop off your hire car. Fly home. (B)
