Engaging, unusual, and anything but ordinary – the hallmarks of a Cox & Kings journey

It is all too easy to stick to the tourist trail on holiday. We know that Cox & Kings guests share our adventurous spirit and are always looking for something different. That is why we created Signature Experiences.

Signature Experiences are activities that promise greater immersion in the culture and landscapes of your destination. They range from cooking classes and tea with the locals, to off-the-beaten-track excursions you’ll recount at dinner parties for years to come. We weave a handful of these exceptional experiences into every Cox & Kings tour, made possible by long-standing, far-reaching relationships with the communities we visit.

Below, discover a flavour of the Signature Experiences we offer.

What you can expect from a Cox & Kings holiday:

Stay close to the thundering Iguazú Falls

Each year, over a million people visit the UNESCO-listed Iguazú National Park to see this natural wonder. However, few have the chance to stay overnight within the park itself. During your tour, not only will you stay close to the falls, but you’ll also have the opportunity to experience the cascades while the park is closed to other visitors. Learn to cook Uzbek cuisine

Cuisine in Uzbekistan is characteristic of Central Asia, a crossroads of cultures. On this tour, you partake in a traditional cookery demonstration. Guided by an expert, you’ll gain insight into traditional Uzbek methods of cooking. See the full tour – Uzbekistan: Heart of central Asia

Two days exploring Petra

Unlike many tour operators, we dedicate two full days to exploring Petra. This ensures you have time to take in more of its UNESCO-listed treasures, including the Roman ruins, Crusader church and cave tombs. Furthermore, you will stay in a 5-star hotel just minutes from the entrance of the famed ruins, allowing you to be first in and last out. See the full tour – Splendours of Jordan

Wine tasting near Mount Etna

The upside of Mount Etna’s temper is its effect on Sicily’s soil. The surrounding slopes of the volcano provide rich, varied soil for grape growing. Enjoy a tasting at the cellars of Barone di Villagrande, an 18th-century, family-run winery on the slopes of Etna. Sample five locally produced wines – reds, whites and dessert wine – alongside small snacks. See the full tour – Classic Sicily

Try traditional tea & cookery in Kyoto

The Japanese have been drinking tea since it arrived on their shores via China over 1,000 years ago. During your visit to Kyoto, experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony in a machiya, a traditional townhouse. This is followed by a cookery class that reveals interesting and tantalising aspects of Japanese cooking. See the full tour – Japan’s cultural treasures
