web only- scenic flight over the Bungle Bungle range

| May 15, 2020

Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle) is made up of thousands of huge beehive-shaped mounds striped in orange and black that make an astounding sight from the ground or the air. The stripes are a thin layer of silica and cyanobacteria protecting the soft white sandstone formations of the domes. The park is home to many species of plants and wildlife such as wallabies and green tree frogs. There is plenty to explore including Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Gorge, Echidna Chasm and much more. The park is most easily viewed on scenic flights from Kununurra, which passes over Lake Kununurra, the Carr Boyd Range and Lake Argyle.
