| May 15, 2020

Enjoy a relaxing stroll through the historical streets of Graaff-Reinet with your local tour guide - Chantelle Marais - a local resident and proud ambassador of the Karoo. During your 2.5-hour walk you'll stop at numerous historical buildings and learn about their history (Graaff-Reinet boasts with nearly 220 buildings of historical importance). Enjoy hearing about the architecture of the Karoo, the interesting people that currently occupy the building and also visit the beautiful Dutch Reformed Church in the centre of town, as well as the Reinet House Museum.

Chantelle enjoys showcasing Graaff-Reinet and enthusing about the importance of tourism for the local community. She loves to spend time at the old Graaff-Reinet club that housed the officers of the Coldstream guards during the Anglo-Boer war. If the building is open, visitors can marvel at the old club memorabilia, see the bullet holes in the bar counter and enjoy a drink.

During the tour will hear about Dr Anton Rupert and how much he did for the community of Graaff-Reinet. Visitors will feel like they have an idea of what life is like in the Karoo after their tour.
