Explore the garden city of Bangalore

Visit Tipu's Summer Palace. Construction was begun by Tipu Sultan's father, Haider Ali (the military genius behind several anti-British campaigns), and completed by Tipu in the late 18th century. Based on the Summer Palace at Srirangapatnam, the two-storey ornate structure is built largely of wood, with walls and ceilings adorned with brilliant colours and beautiful carvings. Also explore the Lalbagh botanical gardens, built by Haider Ali in 1760 and stocked in part by Tipu Sultan's ambassadors from all over the world, and Bangalore Palace, a grand palace of the Mysore maharajas, which was probably inspired by Windsor Castle and can only be viewed from the outside.
