Afternoon excursion to the Boloven Plateau

| May 15, 2020

The Bolaven Plateau lies to the east of Pakse in southern Laos, with the Annamite mountains further east towards Vietnam and the Mekong river to the west. The area has been discovered by tourism in recent years, but still lies off the beaten track to most visitors to Laos. Attractions include the plateau's many waterfalls, including the spectacular Tad Fane with a drop of almost 120 metres, the villages of the many ethnic groups that live here, and tours and tastings at coffee plantations. At an elevation of between 1,000-1,350 metres, the conditions are perfect for cultivating coffee, and the cooler air is welcomed by those coming from the hot and humid Mekong river.
