Iceland: In search of the Northern Lights

Group  |  5 Days / 4 Nights
from £955
First settled by Vikings in 874, Reykjavik is the world's most northerly capital city and one of the smallest, making it easy to explore on foot. Framed by the majestic Mount Esja and Faxafloi Bay, the city enjoys a wonderful natural setting. Known for its cosy cafes and world class restaurants, there are a number of excellent museums and art galleries while the natural wonders of the island are easily reachable from the city. From the azure blue waters of the Blue Lagoon, where it's possible to bath in 39C waters among the snow covered lava landscape, to Thingvellir National Park seat of the world's oldest parliament, the country boasts a huge array of attractions.

This 5-day itinerary visits some of the country's most iconic attractions by day and goes in search of the magic of the aurora borealis (northern lights) in the evenings. The northern lights cycle mean that this season will again afford one of the best opportunities to see this magnificent natural phenomenon.
