Peruvians are getting prepared to celebrate the inclusion of the Amazon river as one of the new natural seven wonders of the world by holding a mass canoe trip.
Over 2,000 canoes will be taken down the famous river as part of the event, while there will also be dancing, a fireworks display and the unveiling of a plaque.
In November the Amazon was named as one of the preliminary seven wonders, becoming the second landmark in Peru to gain accreditation, with Machu Picchu being one of the seven man-made wonders of the world.
Head of the Loreto regional government, Yvan Vasquez, told the Andina news provider that it would be a grand celebration.
"This will be a super production that will show the world the wonders of the Peruvian Amazonia," he said.
For people who are on a luxury holiday to Peru on March 5th, experiencing these celebrations is surely a must.
