Jordan: Crusaders, Traders & Raiders

04 - 11 October 2013 •
8 Days / 7 Nights from £1995
Jordan is one of history’s crossroads and battlegrounds, and this tour encompasses the entire range of its heritage and culture. Visit the biblical site of Mount Nebo; Jerash, where Greeks and Romans built a great city; and Petra, a city of fable, with soaring temples and rock-cut tombs. See Islamic castles in the desert, the crusader fortress at Kerak, and the trenches and station buildings where TE Lawrence fought the Turks. All this stands against a backdrop of desert and mountains, including the stunning landscape of Wadi Rum. As co-director of a pioneering series of excavations into TE Lawrence and the great Arab revolt, our expert lecturer and archaeologist Neil Faulkner has gained exclusive behind-the-scenes access to sites not available to the wider public.
