Day 1 – To Delhi: Overnight flight from
London to Delhi with Virgin Atlantic / Jet
Airways. (N)
Day 2 – Delhi: Arrive in the morning Delhi
and transfer to the DoubleTree by Hilton New Delhi (or similar)
for 1 night. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi,
including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid mosque
and Raj Ghat. (N)
Day 3 – To Agra: Morning tour of New Delhi,
including India Gate and the former viceregal
residence, both fine examples of British
imperial architecture. Continue to the tomb of
the Mughal Emperor Humayun and the Qutb Minar tower. Afternoon drive to Agra and
stay for 2 nights at the Radisson Hotel Agra (or similar). (B)
Day 4 – Agra: Early morning visit to the
Taj Mahal, arriving in time for sunrise. After
breakfast, visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah
and Agra Fort. This evening, visit Mehtab Bagh,
400 year-old Mughal garden on the banks
of the Yamuna to see the sun set over the
Taj Mahal. (B)
Day 5 – To Jaipur: Morning drive to the
deserted sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri.
Continue to the former royal retreat of the
rulers of Jaipur, the Country Inn & Suites by Carlson,
Jaipur (or similar), for 3 nights. (B)
Day 6 – Jaipur: After breakfast, visit the ancient
palace of Amber Fort and then the City
Palace in the afternoon, home of the present
maharaja. (B)
Day 7 – Jaipur: A day at leisure to relax,
explore Jaipur’s many bazars or take an optional tour of the ghost town of Bhangarh. (B)
Day 8 – To Delhi: Drive to Delhi via the
beautiful palace at Samode, a fine blend of
Rajput and Mughal architecture. Following a
sightseeing tour and lunch (optional), continue
to Delhi. Stay overnight at the DoubleTree by Hilton New Delhi
(or similar). (B)
Day 9 – To London: Morning transfer to the
airport. Fly to London with Virgin Atlantic / Jet
Airways (B)
