Day 1 – To Kolkata: Fly overnight to Kolkata, via Mumbai (Bombay). (N)

Day 2 – Kolkata: Afternoon arrival and transfer to Taj Bengal for stay of a 2 nights. (N)

Day 3 – Kolkata: Morning visit to the flower market followed by a cruise on the Hooghly river. This afternoon, take a walking tour of Kolkata. (B)

Day 4 – To Kalimpong: Fly to Bagdogra and drive to the remote hill station of Kalimpong. Stay overnight at the Elgin Silver Oaks Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 5 – To Gangtok: Drive to Gangtok and stay 2 nights at the Elgin Nor-Khill hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 6 – Gangtok: Morning tour of the Enchey monastery and the Orchid sanctuary. This afternoon, visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and the Do-Drul Chorten. (B, L, D)

Day 7 – To Pelling: Drive to Pelling via the Rumtek monastery, the largest in Sikkim. Stay overnight at the Elgin Mount Pandim. (B, L, D)

Day 8 – To Darjeeling: Morning visit to Pemayangtse monastery. Continue to Darjeeling and stay 3 nights at Glenburn Tea Estate, which is set among a working teaestate outside Darjeeling. (B, L, D)

Day 9 – Darjeeling: Full-day guided walking tour of the estate. (B, L, D)

Day 10 – Darjeeling: Morning at leisure. Afternoon guided walking tour of Darjeeling. (B, L, D)

Day 11 – To Kolkata: Drive to Bagdogra and fly to Kolkata where you stay overnight at the Taj Bengal. (B)

Day 12 – To London: Morning flight to London, via Delhi. (N)

Note:  It is possible to extend this journey to take in the Orissan temples at Konark and Puri or combine this journey with a visit to some of the remote mountain villages around Sikkim, which give you the opportunity to trek through terraced hills, lush valleys and experience rural life.
