Starting in Seoul, this private tour firstly explores the city, combining the main sights with some of the smaller and less-visited attractions. The itinerary then moves on to rural South Korea, visiting the mountain peaks, waterfalls and temples of Songnisan National Park. The tour continues to Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla kingdom, home to tombs, shrines and a fascinating museum, before ending at the port town of Busan.

Day 1 – To Seoul: Fly to Seoul with British Airways. (N)

Day 2 – Seoul: Arrive and transfer to the Grand Ambassador Seoul for 3 nights. (N)

Day 3 – Seoul: Full-day tour of Seoul, including Gyeongbok Palace, the Folklore Museum, the Blue House, Namdaemun market, Seoul Tower and the Hanok traditional village*. (B, L)

Day 4 – Panmunjom & DMZ: Optional full-day tour of Panmunjom and the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), visiting the Dora observatory, Panmunjom, also known as ‘the Truce Village’ where the 1953 Armistice Agreement was signed, and the Peace Talks House †. (B)

Day 5 – To Songnisan: Leave Seoul for Songnisan National Park and visit Beopjusa temple. Stay overnight at Lake Hills Hotel. (B, L)

Day 6 – To Gyeongju: Morning drive to Gyeongju. In the afternoon, visit Cheomseongdae Astronomical Observatory and Royal Tumuli Park, then enjoy a walking tour in downtown Gyeongju, visiting the National Museum. Stay at Hotel Hyundai Gyeongju for 2 nights. (B, L)

Day 7 – Gyeongju: Take a full-day tour of Gyeongju, including a visit to the Gwaeneung royal tomb, the Bulguksa temple and the Seogguram grotto, before taking a scenic coastal drive to Guryongpo port. (B, L)

Day 8 – To Busan: Morning drive to Busan. Visit Geumjeong mountain, a popular walking area, and discover the Beomeosa temple. Return to the city and explore Jagalchi market, South Korea’s largest seafood market and famous throughout the country. Visit one of the local restaurants for fresh sashimi or hotpot. Stay overnight at the Westin Chosun Busan. (B, L)

Day 9 – To Seoul: Early morning train back to Seoul. The rest of the day is at leisure. Optional activities include a visit to the Dongdaemun commercial district, with many shops, malls and a lively night market. In the evening, watch a performance by Jump, a slapstick acrobatics and martial arts show. Overnight at the Grand Ambassador Seoul. (B)

Day 10 – To London: Fly back to London and arrive in the evening. (B)

Extend your stay with a few nights on Jeju island, a Unesco natural world heritage site, to explore the scenic coastlines and beautiful volcanic mountains. Please ask your consultant for details.
