Country Overview

Boat Quay, Singapore

Overview

Singapore lies almost on the equator and is an ideal place to relax for a few days in a city renowned for its efficiency and high standard of service.

What to see

Singapore is a very compact city and offers outstanding shopping in some of its many air-conditioned shopping malls. Singapore also has some of the best restaurants in Asia, excellent parks and many colonial buildings and interesting areas to visit including Chinatown, Little India and the redeveloped Quay areas including the striking new Esplanade theatre and entertainment complex.

When to go
Being close to the equator, temperatures in Singapore remain uniform throughout the year. Singapore lies between two monsoon winds. The Northeast Monsoon arrives at the beginning of November and stays until mid-March. The heaviest rainfall occurs between November and January, with daily showers that sometimes last for long periods of time.
