Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Visas & Health

Many of our destinations have recommended health precautions which you can read about in our regional documents and health pages. However, we recommend that you contact your doctor or the British Airways Immunisation Centre, who will be able to give you professional advice, arrange any vaccinations and give advice on malaria protection. Alternatively, visit NHS website for more information.

All prices for Cox & Kings holidays include international flights. In some instances if you wish you may be able to arrange your own flights, in which case the cost will be deducted from the tour price.

Single & Sole Supplements

Most hotels around the world charge more per person for a single-occupancy room that for a shared twin room because the cost of maintaining a room for one person can be almost as high as it is for two. In addition, many single-occupancy rooms are the same as twin / double rooms
'Single' traveller is someone occupying a single room whilst travelling with one or more other people, for example a single person travelling on a group tour. A 'Sole' traveller is someone travelling on their own.

About Cox & Kings Holidays

The key "B, L, D" is often used at the end of each day on our itineraries to indicate which meals are provided. B stands for Breakfast, L for Lunch and D for Dinner. N means no meals are provided on that day.

Types of Holiday

Most Cox & Kings tours are based on 4 and 5-star accommodation, or the best available. However, in some countries with a developing tourism infrastructure, some of the accommodation can be quite basic, and some of the road journeys may be longer and rougher. Whilst 'Discovery' tours can be very rewarding they are typically suited to the more adventurous-spirited traveller.
The vast majority of our group tours are exclusive to Cox & Kings clients, however there are a few exceptions where they may be holidaymakers who booked their tour with another travel company in the group.

Making a Booking

You can confirm your place by sending us a fully completed and signed booking form, together with your deposit, which will be £150 per person or 15% of your total holiday cost (whichever is greater) together with any applicable insurance premium (or evidence of alternative cover) and any applicable visa fees.
Final payment must be made no less than 8 weeks prior to departure.

Before Departure

Travel documents will be sent approximately 2 weeks prior to departure (Third Party Suppliers' policies may vary), unless your booking is made within 6 weeks of departure, in which case final documents will be sent as soon as possible.
Your travel pack will contain your final itinerary, your airline tickets (which will usually be e-tickets), a leather wallet, leather luggage tags, your tour notes and hotel vouchers if required.
If you are travelling on a group tour, you will receive a detailed itinerary with your travel pack. If travelling on a Private Journey you will receive your detailed itinerary with your confirmation invoice.
If a group tour does not reach its minimum numbers we will either offer for you to take your holiday as a private journey (which may involve a supplement), or you will be fully refunded.
