Beyond the magnificent temples of Angkor lies a rural landscape, little changed since the days of Jayavarman VII. To depart Siem Reap having seen only the temple ruins is to miss contemporary Khmer culture, and the living history of rice and fishing subsistence culture, an opportunity that will soon be lost forever as infrastructure and technology encroaches upon the countryside. This excursion offers an insight into authentic country life with a short village visit. Within the village is a traditional private village house surrounded by rice paddies that has been converted for private dinners. Enjoy a five-course dinner followed by sunset drinks, and soak up the peace and tranquillity of rural Cambodia.
