Many of Ahmedabad's heritage sites lie in the old city, which is a maze of busy streets and teeming alleyways. This walking tour explores some of the hidden architectural wonders, including some of the finest examples of Indo-Saracenic monuments. Commencing from the quaint Swaminarayan Mandir temple, the tour culminates 1.5 hours later at the glorious Jama Masjid. The walk uncovers numerous pols (gates), havelis, ornamental facades and ornate temples with secret passages and wooden carvings. The self-contained neighbourhoods, where time seems to have stood still, feature chaotic bazaars, traditional rainwater harvest systems and squares with community wells and intricately carved bird feeders.
