Trans-Siberian Express: Silver Cabin

Traversing the expanse of Russia, from Moscow to Vladivostok, the Trans-Siberian Express line covers 9,000 kilometres, passing through eight time zones and 80 towns and cities. Highlights of the journey include Kazan and the UNESCO-protected Kremlin, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, the capital of Siberia, and a barbeque on the beach at the world’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Baikal.

Travel in comfort aboard the Golden Eagle train, which offers New Heritage, Gold and Silver Class cabins. Gold Class cabins are the largest at 77 square ft and feature en suite bathrooms with power showers and underfloor heating, DVD / audio systems and individual climate control. Silver Class cabins have similar facilities in a more compact space of 60 square ft. Heritage class cabins have separate washing facilities and a space of 39 square ft. The Golden Eagle features a Lounge / Bar Car and a Restaurant Car, which serves local delicacies and international cuisine.

Day 1 To Moscow: Transfer to the Marriot Royal Aurora or similar for 1 night. Welcome reception and dinner. (D)

Day 2 Moscow: Full day tour of Moscow including the Kremlin. This afternoon, board the Golden Eagle for the 12 night journey to Vladivostok. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Kazan: Morning arrival in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, and visit the UNESCO listed historic Kremlin. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Yekaterinburg: Cross the Europe-Asia divide and arrive in Yekaterinburg, capital of the Urals. Visits include the Romanov execution site. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Novosibirsk: Stop in Novosibirsk and visit the Opera House, one of the world’s biggest, and Lenin Square. (B, L, D)

Day 6 On Board: At leisure. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Irkutsk: Morning arrival in Irkutsk, the ‘Paris of Siberia’. See the major sights and museums. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Lake Baikal: Pass by Lake Baikal, the world’s largest freshwater lake. Weather permitting, a stop will be made for a barbeque at one of the bays. Continue to Listvyanka, a small Baikal village. (B, L, D)

Day 9 Ulan Ude: Morning arrival in Ulan Ude, capital of the Buryat Republic, where there will be a tour and a concert. (B, L, D)

Day 10 Ulan Baatar: Situated on the Orkhon River, see the city’s major sights and museums. Lunch is served in a ger (yurt) restaurant. (B, L, D)

Day 11 On Board: At leisure. (B, L, D)

Day 12 On Board: At leisure. See Siberia at its most remote and beautiful as the train enters the region of permafrost. (B, L, D)

Day 13 On Board: At leisure. The most easterly point of the journey is reached as the train passes through Khabarovsk. (B, L, D)

Day 14 Vladivostok: Morning arrival. Take a tour of this once ‘closed’ Russian town and transfer to the Hotel Hyundai for 1 night. Farewell dinner at the hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 15 To London: Transfer to the airport. (B)
