Country Overview

Greece

Overview
Greece is both an enchanting and fascinating destination. Art and history can be found in abundance, as its cities and towns are home to some of the world's most admired architecture. What is more, it has also been the setting for many a mythical tale. Whilst the 1400 offshore islands of Greece are perfect for a spot of island-hopping.

What to see

Greece, as the centre of the ancient world, has much to offer. From the Acropolis and Parthenon, to frescoed Minoan palaces in Crete. Combine the striking architecture of Athens with the beaches of the picturesque Santorini.

When to go

Spring (April - June) is the prime time to visit because the weather is good throughout the country and the peak tourist season has not begun. Autumn (mid-September to mid-October) is the second most preferable time to travel. However, Greece enjoys a moderate climate throughout the year and so city breaks can be taken all year round.

Great Experiences

The Acropolis

The Ancient Acropolis & Parthenon
The Acropolis, visible from almost anywhere in Athens, watches proudly over the city. The new Acropolis museum in Athens hosts various attractions of the antiquity.

View of Crete

Explore the island of Crete

Ancient Delphi

Delphi

Situated in Central Greece, Delphi is famous for its Oracle. Considered to be one of the most important shrines from ancient times, the remaining ruins give a great indication of the power and prestige of Delphi.

Ancient Olympia

Olympia

Located in the Peloponnese in Southern Greece, Olympia is the birthplace of the Olympic games and the ideals which belong to them. The Olympic flame for the modern games is permanently lit in the Temple of Hera.
