This package runs from June through to October with each month
offering different bear-viewing experiences, as follows:
A favourite time for photographers with an abundance of grass
and wildflowers. Female grizzly bears with their cubs will often head to
the fringe of the coastal estuaries while larger males will be meandering
from the upper alpine meadows.
Warm days and sunshine. Bears alternate between the estuaries for
grass and the forest for berries. Late in the month black bears appear in
large numbers as the salmon spawning season starts.
Bears congregate near the mouths of the river to feed on
salmon. Typically this is the month with the best sightings of spirit bears.
Grizzly bear, spirit bear and black bear sightings increase as
they feed on the spawning salmon.
Bear numbers reach their peak as they add to their food stores
for winter. Seasonal rains.
International flights are not included with this itinerary. For
flight options and prices, please speak to your tour consultant. Different
durations for this package are available.
Spirit Bear Lodge is a basic 3-star property offering the opportunity to spot the rare spirit bear. Built in 2007 the property has just 12 rooms. Architecturally, the exterior of the lodge pays homage to the traditional long houses built for thousands of years by West Coast First Nations. Inside, the atmosphere is modern and relaxing. After a day of bear viewing, share stories with fellow guests in The Great Room, an intimate central room with 20 foot high, ocean view windows, local Tsimshian Art and two 12 foot, solid cedar dining tables. Each guestroom has a king size bed and private bathroom and takes full advantage of the ocean and rainforest views.
A recommended gratuity of CAD$20 per person per day is not included and should be paid...
