Accommodation is in a remote lodge
over 160km from civilisation, providing
unrivalled access to the bears’ denning
areas and the Hudson Bay coastline. Led
by expert guides, discover the rich flora
and fauna of this region.
Arrive in Winnipeg and make your own way to
the Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel by Lakeview
for 1 night. This evening join your adventure
specialist and the rest of the group for dinner. (D)
Fly to Churchill, and then join a chartered flight
to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge where you will stay
for 4 nights. The lodge is located 250km southeast
of Churchill, on the Hudson Bay. With such
a remote location and no other human presence
within 16km, it provides superb wildlife spotting
opportunities, with an abundance of polar bears
and other wildlife in the area. Settle into your
accommodation and join an interpretive walk on
the inland Palsa Bogs and Tundra Ponds. (L, D)
Join a variety of daily outings in search of
polar bears and their cubs as well as seeking
out the other abundant wildlife in the area such as black bears, wolves, moose and birds. This
involves taking coastal tours to the tidal flats
and Hudson Bay shoreline, full-day explorations
of Hudson Bay’s coastline and travelling out
from the lodge for photographic opportunities
in the Arctic environment. Lectures and
presentations will be given each evening and
gentle wake up calls will alert you if the aurora
borealis (the northern lights) appear. (B, L, D
Fly to Churchill where there will be the chance
to visit some of the shops and exhibits. Later,
fly back to Winnipeg and stay overnight at the
Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel by Lakeview. (B, L)
