Drive to Ouarzazate over the Tichka Pass.
Overnight at Le Berbere Palace. (B)
Drive south through the mountain ranges of the
Anti-Atlas towards the Sahara desert and the
town of Zagora in the Draa river valley. Stay at
the Riad Lamane for 1 night. (B)
Journey through the wild country of the Jebel
Sahro ranges via the Saharan town of Rissani, a
crossroads between north and south and formerly
a major caravan centre. Continue into the desert
for one night in a private tented camp. (B, D)
Drive through the Dades valley, along the Road
of a Thousand Kasbahs, to Skoura, an oasis town
surrounded by shady palm groves. Stay at Les
Jardins de Skoura for 1 night. (B)
Drive west to the 16th-century town of
Taroudant, a major market centre with local craft
workshops. Overnight at Palais Salam (B)
Continue west and then north along the coast to
the fortified city of Essaouira. Stay at the Atlas
Essaouira for 3 nights. (B)

tours and boat trips. The town and beach are
