Morning visit to the Hassan
II mosque in Casablanca. After lunch, drive to
Rabat. Stay at the Golden Tulip Farah, Rabat, for

route visiting the former capital of Meknes, now
one of the quieter imperial cities but once the
heart of the Moroccan sultanate. The nearby
Roman ruins of Volubilis mark the westward

Morning tour of Fez, the first
Islamic city in Morocco. Visits include the
courtyard of the Kairaouine mosque, the
Bou Inania madrasa and the extensive souks.
Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Today’s drive (6 to 8 hours,
depending on traffic and stops) will journey
south through the beautiful scenery of the
Middle Atlas mountains, before the landscape
changes to the more arid beginnings of the
Sahara desert. Stay overnight at the Kasbah

After a morning visit
to the fossil museum in Erfoud, drive for
approximately 45 minutes into the Sahara
desert, where you will overnight at La Belle
Etoile camp (shared facilities) and witness the
spectacular desert sunset. (B, D)
Head west to
Ouarzazate, stopping to view the spectacular
Todra Gorge. Overnight at Karam Palace hotel. (B)
A morning visit to
the film studios in Ouarzazate will be followed
by a drive into the High Atlas mountains,
finishing in the Ourika valley. Overnight Kasbah
Bab Ourika. (B)
Morning hike from
Bab Ourika, followed by a 90-minute drive to
Marrakech. Stay at the Riad Ilayka for 2 nights (B)

city tour, including visits to the Bahia Palace, the
Saadian tombs, the Koutoubia mosque and the
