world heritage site, with its Versailles-inspired mirrorencrusted
marble throne hall. In the afternoon,
board the Golden Eagle for the 10-night journey

Stop in Mashhad to visit the Imam Reza Holy
Shrine, the largest mosque in the world in terms of
its dimensions, followed by a tour of the Nader Shah
museum. After lunch, tour the tomb of Ferdowsi, the
father of Persian literature. (B, L, D)
Morning arrival into Kerman. Visit the Hamam Ganj
Ali Khan complex with its exquisite frescoes. (B, L, D)
Afternoon arrival into Rayen to visit the impressive
castle, which has excellent views of Mount Hezar.
Travel by road to Mahan to explore the royal palace
with its Prince Garden and tomb. Rejoin the train at
dusk for the journey to Kerman. (B, L, D)
Morning tour of Persepolis, Darius the Great's summer capital, to view the magnificent stone
terrace and palace. Continue to Naghsh-e-Rostam,
the site of the royal tombs and Sassanian rock
reliefs. Afternoon drive to Shiraz to view the Quran
Gate; the tomb of Hafez, the celebrated Persian
poet; and the citadel. Rejoin the train for the journey
to Kashan. (B, L, D)
Full-day tour of the city's monuments, including
Naghsh-e Jahan Square, the Imam and Sheikh
Lotfollah mosques, and the beautiful Khaju
Bridge. Conclude with a visit to Vank church in the
Armenian quarter. (B, L, D)
Stop in Kashan, known for its beautiful Persian
carpets, and visit Fin Garden, a Unesco world heritage
site, and several 19th-century houses. (B, L, D)
This morning, transfer to a local train for the journey
to the city of Shushtar. Visit the remarkable water
hydraulic system. Continue to visit the ancient
site of Chogha Zanbil and the city of Susa before
rejoining the Golden Eagle. (B, L, D)
This morning, transfer to a local train for a picturesque
journey on the Trans-Iranian Railway. Cross the
famous Veresk bridge, hailed as the 'Bridge of Victory'
as it was a vital link for supplies to Russia from the
Allied powers in the second world war, and travel along
the outstanding 'Three Golden Lines' spiral where
the railway line ascends and descends in a very short
distance, passing the same area three different times but at different heights. Rejoin the Golden Eagle train
for the onward journey to Tehran. (B, L, D)
This morning arrive into Tehran and take a tour of
the National Museum of Iran, which houses an
array of artefacts that reveal Iran's history. Stay 2
nights at the Espinas Hotel (or similar). (B, L, D)
Full-day tour including visits to the Crown Jewels
Museum in the Central Bank of Iran building, with
its vast array of treasures used by the Qajar and
Pahlavi royalty. Afternoon visit to the Niavaran
Palace complex or the Museum of Contemporary

Transfer to the airport or continue with onward

Travel in comfort aboard the Golden Eagle train, which offers Gold and Silver Class cabins and Imperial suites. Gold Class cabins are 7 sq metres and feature en suite bathrooms with power showers and underfloor heating, DVD / audio systems and individual climate control. Silver Class cabins have similar facilities in a more compact space of 6 sq metres. The Imperial suite has is 11 sq metres and contains a fixed double bed and lounge area with dressing table.
