Early morning arrival and transfer to the Azadi
Grand (or similar) for immediate occupancy.
Afternoon visit to Tehran’s museums. Stay for

Drive to the shores of the Caspian Sea via the
scenic Chalus Road, which crosses the Alborz
mountains. Alongside the coastal road there
are lush green forests, paddy fields and tea
plantations. Overnight at Ramsar Parsian
This morning visit local markets in Ramsar
before driving to the town of Rasht. Carry on
into the mountains to the charming ancient
village of Masuleh, one of the oldest and
longest inhabited villages in Iran. Continue
on to the port town of Bandar-e- Anzali for an
overnight stay at the Sefid Kenar Hotel. (B)
Drive to Tabriz along the spectacular
mountainous roads of north-western Iran via
the Hayran Pass, with a stop en route at Ardabil
to see the Unesco-listed mausoleum of Sheikh
Safi-ad-din Ardabili. Stay 3 nights in Tabriz at

Spend a full day in Tabriz with highlights
including the Blue Mosque and the Azarbaijan
Museum, displaying a fine collection of prehistoric

Take a tour to Jolfa to visit the beautiful
Armenian church of St Stephanus, built between
the 10th and 12th century AD and one of the oldest in the area. The church is named after St

This morning drive to Maragheh to visit the
beautiful 12th-century Seljuk tomb towers
then continue to Takab via the Sassanian
archaeological site of Takht-e Soleyman to
see the remains of this citadel including the
Zoroastrian fire temple. Stay overnight at the
Ranji Hotel* in Takab.
Travel to Sanandaj, a centre of Kurdish culture,
and visit the Sanandaj Museum and the
fortified, 13th-century Darol Ehsan mosque. Stay
1 night at Shadi Hotel*. (B)
Morning drive to Kermanshah to visit the
important Sassanian rock reliefs at Tagh-e-
Bostan, including the large statue of Khosrow
II; Takieh Mo’aven-ol-Molk, a Shiite shrine built
in the early 20th century for the purpose of
performing religious mourning ceremonies; and
the bazaar, selling colourful textiles for Kurdish
dresses. Stay 1 night at Kermanshah Parsian
Drive to Hamadan, one of the oldest cities in the
world. En route see the trilingual inscriptions of
Darius I at Bisotun and the temple of Anahita
at Kangavar, where it is believed Parthian kings
were crowned. Stay overnight at Hotel Bu-Ali. (B)
Morning tour of the city’s highlights including
the Tomb of Esther and Mordechai, a pilgrimage
site for Jews; the 12th-century Alavyan Tomb
Tower, a fine example of early Suljuk art; and
Ganjnameh, ancient inscriptions carved into the
side of Alvand mountain. Afterwards continue
to Tehran and stay overnight at Azadi Grand (or
Transfer to the airport and fly home. (B)
