In a variation to the main tour, instead of taking
a motorboat, explore the Keralan backwaters
in a traditional wooden rice barge. Once used
to ferry rice and other goods across Kerala and
provide accommodation for the boatmen, the
barges have been sensitively converted into
floating homes for tourists, with a few tweaks
and essential modern conveniences added.
