Arrive into Denpasar-Bali and transfer to Nusa Dua on the eastern side of the Bukit peninsula, at the southern tip of Bali. Stay at the Meliá Bali Villas and Spa Resort (Duplex Family Room) for 3 nights. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (N)
Today is at leisure to relax on the beach, or make a day trip to the nearby Waterbom Bali water park. Optional evening excursion to the clifftop Uluwatu temple followed by a Kecak fire dance show, where 70 performers use chanting, dancing and fire to re-enact scenes from the Indian epic poem the Ramayana. This morning surfing lessons have been arranged for you off the beach at Nusa Dua. Classes are led by qualified instructors and suitable for beginners. The remainder of the day is at leisure to experience Bali beach life. (B)
Drive (2 hours) to the Elephant Safari Park Lodge (two interconnected Paddy-View Rooms) in the village of Taro, central Bali, and stay for 2 nights. The lodge is set in a well-preserved tropical forest ecosystem and is the only place in Bali where visitors can observe, hand-bathe, feed and personally interact with Sumatran elephants. During your stay here a range of other activities are bookable locally including river rafting (Class II rapids), mountain biking and jungle trekking. (B, L, D)
Drive for 1 hour to Ubud, with an optional stop en route at the village of Carang Sai for the Pod Origin chocolate tour, where you will learn all about the chocolate-making process from raw cacao beans, with an opportunity to taste the final product. Stay at the Komaneka at Monkey Forest hotel (two separate Monkey Forest Suites) for 3 nights, right in the heart of Ubud next to many cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries. (B)
These two days are at leisure to explore Ubud and the surrounding hills and rice terraces. Optional tours available include a hands-on lesson at a batik-making workshop or a highlands tour by jeep. (B)
Drive for 2 hours into the Jatiluwih highlands and stay 2 nights at Sang Giri Mountain Glamping Luxury Camp (two separate Mountain Tents). Activities bookable locally include mountain biking, nature walks, sunset temple visits and classes in Balinese cooking. (B)
Drive back to the airport in Denpasar-Bali, then fly back to London via Singapore. (B)

Nyepi, or Balinese Silence Day, is a celebration for Balinese New Year (Saka New Year) and will take place on Tuesday 28th March 2017. During this time there will be no lights, no travelling and no activities allowed in the whole island of Bali. Guests must remain within the hotel area throughout this event.

The Elephant Safari Park & Lodge is situated near to the village of Taro in central Bali and is surrounded by tropical forest. Set in 3.5 hectares of landscaped gardens, the lodge offers a range of safari-themed accommodation spread throughout the park. The lodge was founded in 1997 by entrepreneur and conservationist Nigel Mason, who was living in Indonesia and took on the care of nine elephants that had been brought to Sumatra and kept in poor conditions. The Sang Giri Mountain Glamping Camp is set up in the mountains of Tabanan, north of Jatiluwih village and close to the entrance of Pura Luhur Bhujangga temple. Accommodation is in luxury tents built into the hillside with views over the forest, connected by stairs to the resort facilities. Surrounding the camp is a range of hiking trails leading either into the forested mountains or the rice terraces. The camp tour desk can organise a variety of activities including temple visits and cooking lessons, and will also rent out bikes and jungle trekking boots.
