Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to the Oriental

Morning city tour of Bangkok, then fly to Ranong.
Overnight in Ranong. (B, L)
Drive across the border to Burma, then transfer to
the jetty in Kawthaung to board the Pandaw MY
Andaman Explorer for a 10–night cruise. (B, L, D)
Cruise to Than Kyun, or Davis island, at the
southern end of the Mergui archipelago, the
largest and highest of the Aladdin islands. (B, L, D)
Visit Lambi island, home to members of the
Mokken minority ethnic group with a nomadic
seafaring culture. (B, L, D)
The cruise enters the Sular islands, otherwise
known as the Great West Torres, then on to Port
Maria near Thayawathadangyi. (B, L, D)
Arrive in the coastal town of Myeik, formerly an
important trading centre. (B, L, D)
Make a brief stop at Port Owen on Tavoy island,
then sail overnight to Moulmein. Optional
afternoon excursion by car to the Thanbyuzayat
war cemetery. (B, L, D)
Leave the boat and drive to Hpa An
(pronounced Pa-an), the capital of Karen state.
Return by boat down the Salween river to rejoin
the boat at Moulmein. (B, L, D)
Full-day sailing through the Gulf of Martaban,
then into the mouth of the Rangoon river,
entering Rangoon as day breaks. Afternoon city
tour. Overnight at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel. (B)

The MY Andaman Explorer was built as the MV Atlantic Guard in 1963 in Norway as a Norwegian coast guard vessel. She is 61 metres long with her original Rolls Royce engines. She retired from coast guard duties in 1998 and was acquired by Doctor Bogazzi, an Italian oligarch whose family owns the Carrara marble quarries. Dr Bogazzi lavished many a million on the ship, now renamed the MY Marina, completely refitting her with eleven very generous suites and a jacuzzi on deck. Much of the ship is floored with Carrara marble. In recent times she has belonged to a powerful shipping family based in Dubai who maintained the ship to a very high standard. She is now undergoing redecoration in Thailand so the photos of the interiors shown here are as she is now and not as she will be once...
