Morning flight to Zürich. Transfer to Lucerne by
rail. Afternoon at leisure to explore the historic
centre of Lucerne or take advantage of the
included Half Fare Card and opt for a visit to the
top of Mount Pilatus or Rigi. Overnight at the
Hotel des Alpes (or similar). (B)
The Golden Pass is one of the most scenic rail
journeys in Switzerland. There are three distinct
sections to the journey. From Lucerne, the train
passes picturesque villages and lakes before
climbing over the Brünig Pass and down to
Interlaken Ost. Change here for the train to
Zweisimmen, which first follows the banks of
Lake Thun before heading into the green Alpine
pastures of the Simmental. Traditional villages
and flowering meadows pass by before the train
reaches Zweisimmen, where passengers need to
change to a different gauge train. The journey
continues through forests and mountain villages,
passing through a tunnel to emerge among the
vineyards around Lake Geneva. Overnight in
Montreux at the Hotel Helvetie (or similar). (B)

Afternoon rail transfer to Geneva airport and fly
