Fly to La Coruña and transfer to the Parador de Santiago de Compostela for 1 night.

Morning visits to the towns of Avilés, an ancient city with a well-preserved old town,
and Gijón, a city that opens up to the Cantabrian Sea and is alive with cultural
events. Return to the train and continue to the region’s capital, Oviedo, the highlight
of Asturian Romanesque art, featuring gems such as the basilica of San Julian de los

Today, visit the heart of the principality of Asturias, driving up into the Picos de
Europa National Park. Enjoy the scenery at Lake Enol and visit the sacred Shrine of
Covadonga. After lunch, visit the charming fishing village of Llanes. (B, L, D)
Morning visit to the town of Potes. After lunch, view the mansion of El Capricho in
Comillas, an impressive 19th

Morning visits to the town of Santillana del Mar with its beautifully preserved
medieval town and the Neocave of Altamira. This is a replica of the fine examples of
Upper Palaeolithic cave art found in the nearby Altamira cave, which is closed to the
public to prevent damage to the artworks discovered here in 1879. After lunch,

Explore the dynamic city of Bilbao with an included visit to the Guggenheim

Continue by rail to San Sebastian where you will disembark the train. There will be a
tour of this elegant city set around the beautiful sandy sweep of La Concha beach.

El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo offers anunforgettable 8-day journey along the northern Spanish coastline, travelling between San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela. The train features heritage 1920s Pullman
carriages that have been renovated to offer sumptuous interiors. Accommodation is in Deluxe suites, each with a separate bedroom, lounge and bathroom. The lounge has a sofa that can convert into a comfortable
bed. The lounge cars include a dining and bar car, a Panorama Coach, a Tea Saloon, an Entertainment Saloon and a small library.
