This morning, join a guided tour of Gorki Leninskiye, a large museum complex set up in the estate where Vladimir Lenin lived until his death in 1924. This afternoon, return to Moscow for a sightseeing tour including Red Square, the Kremlin, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills) for views of the city. (B)
After breakfast, take a tour of the Kremlin grounds and Armoury and admire its Unesco-listed architecture including the magnificent gold-domed cathedrals, the colossal Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell, the Grand Palace and other historical buildings. Afternoon transfer to the train station for departure to Suzdal. On arrival in Suzdal, transfer to the Pushkarskaya Sloboda Hotel (standard room in wooden house). (B, D)
Morning sightseeing tour of Suzdal, including the Kremlin, the Cross-Vaulted Chamber, Cathedral of Nativity and the Spaso-Efimievsky monastery, famous for its delightful bell ringing. The morning concludes with a visit to the Museum of Wooden Architecture (summer departures) and the Gold Room (winter departures). After an included lunch, proceed by road to the town of Vladimir for a tour including a visit to the Assumption Cathedral or St Demetrius Cathedral. Continue to the town of Bogolyubovo to view its outstanding medieval monuments. After dinner, transfer to the station for first class rail travel overnight to St Petersburg in a two-berth compartment. (B, L, D)
Arrive this morning in St Petersburg. You will be met by your guide and taken on a city sightseeing tour including the main street of Nevsky Prospect, the Admiralty, St Isaac's Cathedral, the Church of our Saviour on Spilled Blood and Anichkov Bridge. In the afternoon visit Peter and Paul Fortress, the birthplace of the new capital set up by Peter the Great. Admire the historic buildings and the cannon, which has a 150-year-old tradition of firing at noon, and the Trubetskoy Bastion, where rebellious poets, writers and other prominent personalities were incarcerated during the days of imperialist rule. Continue to the Domina Prestige Hotel (or similar) for 3 nights. (B)
This morning, visit the world-renowned Hermitage museum and its enormous collection of artwork. Your guide will ensure you see the best of the exhibits. (B)
Take a guided tour this morning to Pushkin, home to the majestic Catherine Palace with its Grand Hall of gilded wood carvings and mirrors, the Dining Room and its magnificent porcelain dinner service, and the beautiful Amber Room. (B)
