Morning tour of Gorki Leninskiye, a museum
complex in the estate where Vladimir Lenin
lived until his death in 1924. Afternoon tour of
Moscow including Red Square, the Kremlin, the
Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Vorobyovy
Gory (Sparrow Hills) for city views. (B)
Morning tour of the Kremlin grounds and
Armoury. Admire its Unesco-listed architecture
including the magnificent gold-domed
cathedrals, the Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell, and
the Grand Palace. Afternoon transfer to the
train station for departure to Suzdal. On arrival
in Suzdal, transfer to the Pushkarskaya Sloboda
Hotel (Standard room in wooden house). (B, D)
Morning tour of Suzdal, including the Kremlin,
the Cross-Vaulted Chamber, Cathedral of Nativity
and the Spaso-Efimievsky monastery, famous
for its delightful bell ringing. Conclude with a
visit to the Museum of Wooden Architecture
(summer departures) or the Gold Room (winter
departures). Proceed by road to the town of
Vladimir for a tour. Continue to the town of
Bogolyubovo to view its outstanding medieval
monuments. After dinner, transfer to the station
for First Class rail travel overnight to St Petersburg
in a two-berth compartment. (B, L, D)
Arrive in St Petersburg and take a city tour
including the main street of Nevsky Prospect, the
Admiralty, St Isaac's Cathedral, the Church of Our
Saviour on Spilled Blood and Anichkov Bridge. In
the afternoon visit Peter and Paul Fortress, where
rebellious poets, writers and other prominent
personalities were incarcerated during the days
of imperialist rule. Continue to the Ambassador
hotel (or similar) for 3 nights. (B)
This morning, visit the world-renowned
Hermitage museum and its enormous collection
of artwork. Your guide will ensure you see the
best of the exhibits. (B)
Morning tour to the town of Pushkin, home to
the immense Catherine Palace with its Grand
Hall of gilded wood carvings and mirrors and
