Drive to Lamego for a guided tour of Lamego castle and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies. Time at leisure to explore the gothic cathedral or the town's museum. In the afternoon, cruise to the village of Barca d'Alva, which is the last Portuguese village along the Douro and located 2km from the Spanish border. (B, L, D)
Drive to Salamanca, a university town that has a rich history dating back to the pre-Roman era. Visitors are attracted to the city by its marvellous architecture including the Plaza Mayor, which is the grandest and largest square in Spain, the old and new cathedrals that combine gothic, baroque and Renaissance stonework, and the Roman bridge across the Rio Tormes. Explore the picturesque villages of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, renowned for its castle, which is listed as a national monument. Visit the Chafariz dos Pretos, a unique fountain. Continue to Pinhão for wine tasting. (B, L, D)
Morning visit to the Palacio de Mateus, which is located close to Vila Real. Discover the story behind Mateus rosé wine with which the palace has long been associated. Early evening arrival into Bitetos to visit the 14th-century Alpendurada monastery to sample some home-cooked cuisine and take in the wonderful views. (B, L, D)
Morning city tour of Portugal's second city. View the magnificent baroque churches and the Ponte Maria Pia, a magnificent bridge built by Gustave Eiffel. Afternoon at leisure. (B, L, D)

The MS AmaVida was launched in 2013 and has 54 superbly appointed guest cabins divided
into five different categories. The Douro deck cabins are 15 sq metres and feature panoramic
windows. Cabins on the Porto and Lisbon decks are 20 sq metres and feature a balcony. Suites
on the Porto deck are 30 sq metres with a balcony. Guests may enjoy fine dining in the
main dining room, plus alfresco dining for up to 32 guests. All meals are included on the
cruise (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with house wine, draught beer and soft drinks served with
lunch and dinner. Other amenities include a sun deck, swimming pool, fitness centre, spa,
complimentary in-room internet access, and wireless internet access throughout.
