decorated baroque palace and terraced gardens

Morning visit to Domodossola, located at the
confluence of the Bogna and Toce rivers and
at the foot of the Italian Alps. Visit the Piazza
Mercato, Piazza Fontana and The Collegiate
Church. Time at leisure for lunch, then return to

Full day at leisure to perhaps take a boat trip
on the lake or explore the picturesque town
of Baveno, situated on the most panoramic
point of Lake Maggiore with sloping hills in
the background and the beautiful Borromean
islands in front. Alternatively take a stroll around
the nearby lakeside town of Stresa (B)
Full day tour of Lake Orta, visiting the medieval
Unesco-listed town of Orta San Giulio, renowned
for its picturesque setting and maze of narrow
cobbled streets flanked by old stone walls. Time
at leisure for lunch. Take a boat to the island
of San Giulio with its basilica, bishop’s palace
and Benedictine abbey. Afternoon visit to Sacro
Monte of Orta, one of a series of chapels located
in the Piedmont and Lombardy regions, which
are included in the Unesco world heritage list. (B)
Morning visit to Villa Taranto in Verbania, where you are free to enjoy the myriad colours and
scents in the beautiful botanical gardens with
their unmistakable English style with a hint
of Italian influence. Afternoon transfer to the
airport and fly to London with Alitalia. (B)
