Morning drive to Agrigento to visit one of Europe’s best archaeological sites, the Valley of the Temples. View the temples of Juno, Concordia and Heracles as well as the ruins of the Temple of Zeus. Continue to Piazza Armerina to see the Villa Romana del Casale, which houses one of the largest and fi nest collection of mosaics ever found in a Roman villa. Continue to Taormina and stay for 3 nights at the Hotel Caparena. Located on the coast, it has a private beach and landscaped gardens. (B, D)
Full day at leisure to explore this picturesque coastal town or optional 4x4 tour to Mount Etna to view the Sartorius craters, the Alcantara Gorge and Valley del Bove. (B)
