In the morning, visit Florence’s rival, the
medieval city of Siena. Raised up high on three
hills, the town is steeped in traditions, most
notably the Palio, the thrilling horse race which
takes place in the piazza. Continue to visit San
Gimignano, visible from some distance on
account of the numerous towers that puncture
its skyline. Before returning to Gaiole in Chianti,
stop off at a local vineyard. Learn about the oiland
wine-making process before sampling some

Drive to Florence for a morning tour of
Florentine architectural marvels such as the
Ponte Vecchio and il Duomo di Firenze. The
afternoon is yours to wander at leisure, soaking

breads and pasta. Tuck into the results for
lunch, perhaps with a glass or two of the

swim, laze by the pool or stroll in the

Today is devoted to the distinguished
wine-growing region of Chianti. Tour the
nearby estates of Ricasoli and Spaltenna,
tasting the wonderful red wines produced in

This morning, visit Pienza and San Quirico
d’Orcia to watch the production of tasty
Pecorino cheese. Sampling the produce is,
of course, on the agenda. Continue to
San Galgano Abbey, a ruined 13th-century
Cistercian monastery, which is allegedly where
the legend of the sword in the stone originates

Discover the sights of Pisa in the morning
with a tour around Piazza dei Miracoli, with its
cathedral, baptistery and the extraordinary
Leaning Tower. Transfer to Pisa airport for your
