Burgundy's gastronomic tradition is certainly rich and diverse, and a sedate cruise on a hotel barge will allow you to indulge in good food and wine, two of the real pleasures in life. Sistership to La Belle Epoque, the 12 passenger L'Impressionniste began life as a cargo barge in Holland before undergoing a complete transformation into the floating hotel, which she is today. Morning cruise. Drive through premier cru vineyards, stopping en route at the famous 'vigne de l'enfant Jesus' for a talk from a wine expert about the domaine and production of its Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines. Continue to Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wine country, for a winery tour and private tasting of Bouchard et Pere Fils wines before a gastronomic lunch in the delightful orangery of Chateau de Beaune. Afternoon visit to the 15th-century Hotel-Dieu Hospice and explore the quaint shops of the town. Short evening cruise to Pont d'Ouche. (B, L, D)
Morning cruise to Vandenesse-en-Auxois. Afternoon visit to the medieval village of Chateauneuf-en-Auxois. (B, L, D)
