Visit the ancient Kawiti glow-worm caves, then on
to Auckland and overnight at the Sebel Suites. (B)
Travel south-east to Rotorua through Waikato’s
farmlands and discover the area’s gold-mining past while strolling along the Ohinemuri river.
Afternoon cruise by catamaran on Lake Rotoiti to
visit otherwise inaccessible hot pools. Stay 2 nights

Morning at leisure to explore Rotorua; a visit to
the Rotorua museum is recommended. In the
afternoon visit the beautiful Lake Tarawera and
the Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park.
Enjoy a private lunch at the Buried Village Rotorua.
See the thermal bubbling mud pools at Wai-OTapu,
then drive to Tongariro via Huka Falls. On
arrival in Tongariro you may like to take a walk
in Tongariro National Park for some magnificent
views over the area’s active volcanoes. Stay

Drive to the seaside town of Napier for a guided
walking tour of the town’s art deco architecture.
Afternoon drive to Havelock North. Stay overnight
at the Scenic Hotel Te Pania. (B)
Pass through small farming towns and stop at the
historic Greytown with its antique and craft shops.
Continue to New Zealand’s capital and take a city
tour including views over the harbour from Mount
Victoria. Overnight at the Bolton Hotel. (B)
Morning ferry crossing of the Cook Strait and the
beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound to South Island.
On arrival, drive into the Marlborough wine region
for a wine-tasting at Forrest Estate vineyard,
including the area’s famous sauvignon blanc, and
a private light lunch. Continue on to Nelson Lakes
National Park and Nelson, where you will stay

Explore the Abel Tasman National Park with a
choice of a full-day scenic cruise or a shorter
cruise with a coastal walk. New Zealand’s smallest
national park protects 23,000 hectares of coastline
with offshore islands, sandy beaches, estuaries and
sheltered bays home to abundant wildlife including

Drive south into the Southern Alps for the first time,
on to the alpine hamlet of Methven. Stay overnight at The
Ski Time Lodge. (B)
Travel south to Aoraki / Mount Cook Village. En
route, visit a homestead for lunch and the Church
of the Good Shepherd beside Lake Tekapo. Stay
overnight at the Hermitage Hotel. (B, L)
Morning at leisure. Join an optional walk through
the valleys around Mount Cook or a cruise on a
glacial lake (payable locally) . Then travel through
alpine scenery to Queenstown. On arrival, board
the Skyline Gondola for a scenic view of the town.
Stay 3 nights at the Scenic Suites Queenstown. (B)
Full-day tour to the Fiordland National Park for a
relaxing cruise on the magnificent Milford Sound.
Return to Queenstown via a scenic flight over the
Southern Alps (weather permitting). Following day
